When reading the book of Proverbs, you quickly realize the wisdom from Christ is a matter of life and death. Jesus Christ is the best counselor, mentor, and life coach for all people in all seasons of life. Reading a chapter, a day allows us to slow down, listen, think, journal, and pray as Christ shares new wisdom that comes from him. In Proverbs 10, what stands out to me are the verses about our tongue/speech. I have gone through the book of Proverbs and highlighted every verse that speaks about the mouth, words, lips, tongue, and speech in the same color. These verses about the tongue convict as well as encourage me. Time and again God brings me to my knees over my heart attitude expressed out of my mouth. The problem is not my mouth but my heart. I will start today again fasting from negative, complaining, critical, and judgmental words. Today, I pray that my lips will nourish many (vs. 21).
