Have you ever lost an item that’s precious to you? If so, you’ll know how feelings of panic can arise as you desperately search for it, fearful your treasure may be gone forever. Sometimes believers can become just as fearful of losing their relationship with God-often after they’ve committed a sin “once too often” or when they’ve fallen back into the same sinful habit that plagued them before they become a Christian.
At such times, Satan is quick to whisper in your ear, “That’s it! You’ve lost your salvation. God will never forgive you now!” And all to often, we believe him. That’s why it is so important to replace Satan’s lies with Scripture’s truths. Some of my favorite scriptures about Salvation come from the Gospel of John.
John 10:28-2 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
John 6:37All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.
As you can read from these verses, God makes a rock-solid promise to keep those who commit their lives to him. The reason He can do so is simple: It has nothing to do with us, but everything to do with Christ. His promises depend simply on his once-for-all sacrifice for us on the cross.
