Jesus clearly states in Matthew 5 that our role as Christians on the earth is a transformational one. We are called “the salt of the earth,” and salt essentially does three things: It adds flavor, it preserves, and it heals. So our task is to bring flavor, preservation, and healing to the world around us.This is why it’s imperative to be personally transformed from the inside out and renewed in God’s Word every day. If we haven’t been changed, we won’t be able to bring out the God-flavors of this earth. We can’t afford to simply do church on Sunday; we must be the church seven days a week, leaving a beautiful flavor and aftertaste everywhere we go! TODAY’S REFLECTION “Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage” (Matthew 5:13, MSG). |
