A Women’s Journey Through Proverbs 16

TRUSTING GOD’S WISDOM

Proverbs 16:3 (NIV) “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

As women, we often find ourselves balancing numerous responsibilities and roles—whether as daughters, sisters, mothers, wives, or professionals. In the midst of our busy lives, it can be easy to rely solely on our own strength and wisdom to navigate challenges and make decisions. However, Proverbs 16 offers us a timeless reminder of where true wisdom and guidance come from.

Proverbs 16:3 encourages us to commit our plans to the Lord. This verse speaks directly to the heart of every woman who desires to honor God in all aspects of her life. It invites us to surrender our ambitions, dreams, and daily tasks to His loving care. When we commit our plans to God, we acknowledge His sovereignty and trust that His ways are higher than ours.

For many of us, decision-making can be fraught with uncertainties and fears—whether it’s choosing a career path, nurturing our families, or navigating relationships. Proverbs 16 reassures us that when we lean on God and seek His wisdom, He promises to establish our paths. This means that even in moments of confusion or difficulty, God is actively guiding us toward His best for our lives.

Consider verse 9: “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.” This verse reminds us that while we may diligently plan and strategize, it is ultimately God who directs our journey. His guidance ensures that our steps align with His purposes, bringing fulfillment and blessing.

As women of faith, we are called to cultivate a spirit of humility and trust in God’s guidance. Proverbs 16:20 affirms this: “Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD.” When we choose to trust in God rather than relying solely on our own understanding, we open ourselves to His transformative power and wisdom.

Proverbs 16 speaks to me as a source of encouragement and empowerment in my journey as a woman of faith. I encourage you to trust in God’s wisdom, commit your plans to Him, trusting that His plans for you are good and perfect (Jeremiah 29:11).
