Why do we need to read God’s Word daily?
We must hear God’s instructions daily. The Holy Spirit knows your challenges, and He is ready to impart the wisdom necessary for every situation. We need to take the time to hear His direction.
Luke 2
In Luke 2, we are introduced to Anna, a prophetess who had been a widow for most of her life. Even at an advanced age, she wisely used her time. During this period, widows were among the most vulnerable, weakest, and poorest members of society. Should would have most likely been extremely poor. It is obvious she came to the temple watching for God’s activity. She spent her days fasting and praying in the temple. On an ordinary day, she heard the devout man, Simeon, praising God over a young couple and their baby. God had promised Simeon that he would not die until he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. Now Simeon was declaring he had seen him! Anna quickly made her way to see the child. In her spirit, she sensed God affirming everything Simeon had said. While others busily carried on with their regular worship and religious activities, those two recognized God’s activity in their midst that day. Most had missed it. They had not.
Application:
- Are we keeping our spiritual eyes open and responding to God’s activity around us?
Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. - Are we longing to spend daily time in worship like Anna?
