We have just finished up with one of the busiest seasons of the year: Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years next week. If your calendar has been like mine it has been filled to the brim. Because of the busyness in my life, I have found myself straying from the Word of God, which means I am straying from God Himself! But now as the New Year approaches, I am ready to step back and reevaluate the pace of my days. We weren’t made to live life at an unbearable pace, always gaining speed, never slowing down. We were made to enjoy God, to bring Him glory in everyday moments, and to savor His presence.
As I am looking into the New Year, God has called me to live an intentional life and to stay in my lane. I am very quick to register for many events, volunteer for various activities and start new hobbies that I know God has not called me to. As I do this, then I start all over again, running the race at breakneck speed and not spending time with God because I am so busy doing. In 2020, I plan on intentionally running at the pace of grace, following God’s lead and creating margin to be still before Him. This year, God is calling me to live a life of less and more of Him.
As we embrace more of Christ, we will have more peace, more fullness, more abundance, more joy and more rest. This pace of grace will look different for each of us because we are all walking through different situations and seasons.
Want to live a focused and intentional life, start planning your days to spend time with Jesus. Write it on your planner or make a reminder on your phone. Designate the time, place and content of what you will study. Gather your supplies, like your Bible, journal, pen, drink of choice, and a pad when your to-do-list pops in your head. Commit time to dig into the Word of God. I promise it will change your life.
